Myth: All Microfiber Performs the Same
Not all microfiber is created equal.
Towels and bed sheets might both carry the "microfiber" label, but they're engineered with very different goals in mind.
🌟Microfiber towels often use split fibers. If you looked at the fiber under a microscope in cross-section, it would resemble an asterisk or star shape. Those tiny channels between the split fibers create a large surface area where dust, dirt and particles can be trapped more easily and where water can be absorbed more aggressively.
That’s why microfiber cleaning cloths and towels perform so differently from traditional fabrics.
🟡Microfiber bedding is different. You don’t want bedding fibers aggressively grabbing moisture, dust, or oils the same way a cleaning towel does- so they’re typically made with non-split continuous filament microfiber in a tightly woven, brushed construction. The result is that soft, smooth feel with natural wrinkle resistance and quick drying.
Same fiber category. Completely different construction and performance goals.
